Customer Reviews

Although Ludovic was quite responsive, I found his pricing to be excessively high. Charging $150 just to open up a laptop seems unreasonable. Also, I was disappointed in his diagnosis, as he appeared uncertain about the issue with my laptop, which made me question his expertise in identifying computer problems. On top of that, he did not reassemble the parts after disassembling the laptop, which I believe should be a standard part of service. Overall, I was dissatisfied with my experience, as it felt as though he was initially confident in resolving the issue but then fell short due to a lack of technical proficiency and the costliness of simple procedures.

Broke my laptop & demanded payment to return it. Short version: Laptop had a sticky keyboard, Ludovic agreed to replace it for $200 in labor plus parts. I bought the new keyboard he identified, and after his first attempt the keyboard was entirely inoperable. He claimed new parts were needed. Once he had my laptop back in his possession with the second new keyboard he demanded double our original agreement, $400, to fix it. He then refused to give the ($1,800) laptop back unless I paid $200. He later reduced his demand to $75. In all, after over $200 in parts and “labor” and my laptop is in significantly worse condition than it started. Recommend you stay far away, as based on my experience and in my opinion Ludovic is certainly not trustworthy and possibly not competent. Long version: My laptop ran well but had a sticky keyboard – the space bar and a few other keys didn’t work well, so I wanted to replace the keyboard. Ludovic provided a quote for $200 in labor, and I would buy the parts. This seemed like a pretty good deal. I was a little sketched out by the storefront this business operates out of, which is some kind of thrift shop selling clothes and random stuff. But I figured supporting a small business is generally good and trusted the other positive reviews online. This was a costly mistake. Ludovic called me in the evening saying he had installed the new keyboard, but it didn’t work at all. He couldn’t remember what the initial problem was with the old keyboard—red flag, but I reminded him the original was just sticky—and he wasn’t sure why the new keyboard wasn’t working. He later claimed that the new keyboard must have been defective. I have no way of knowing if this was true or if he actually performed the installation incompetently. He suggested new parts were needed: a second new keyboard and a new control unit. More expense for me, but I purchased them. After I naively dropped off my laptop again, Ludovic informed me for the first time that he was charging double our agreed rate, $400. I was shocked, but offered to negotiate something more reasonable to reflect the increased labor if he was able to fix it. Ludovic refused to negotiate and told me I could pick up my laptop “as is” (i.e., with the keyboard completely inoperable) and pay him $200. When I told him I would not pay for a failed repair, he told me that in that case he would keep my $1,800 laptop. He later reduced his demand to $75. I paid this, since filing a police report for theft and/or pursuing a lawsuit would not be worth the time and money. Overall, I paid over $200 in parts and “labor” and my laptop is in worse condition than it started. Obviously, I strongly recommend you avoid this business. This was an expensive lesson in trusting your instincts.

B4 Computers assessed damage to my laptop from a power surge -- it continued working for a while but would not recharge or run from mains. The technician was very knowledgeable and thorough and walked me through the damage. He recovered the data from the hard drive when it was clear that repair was not a practical option. He helped walk me through some MS admin hassles to get that done. Overall the process was fast -- they got back to me within a few hours of my initial voicemail to arrange drop-off and were finished the night of the afternoon I dropped the computer off. The final cost was very reasonable. If I have any laptop problems in the future, B4 Computers will be the first place I call.

Excellent! Ludovik responded to my online inquiry, timely via text sending link to screen I needed to purchase for repair. Had me contact him when I received and was able to do that day but I opted for next. Works between Brooklyn and Tribeca so I did a drop off at a local store completing the paperwork and texting to initiate. The computer was completed that evening and works like new for a reasonable total price. Highly recommend!

Great service at reasonable prices. Will work patiently with you over the phone to diagnose a problem. Brought my PC in to get a hard drive replaced in the morning and picked it up in the evening. Very smooth experience. Strongly recommend.
